Route

The carnival route is entirely in Soweto this year. The Soweto route is historical because of a student from Morris Isaacson High School, Teboho 'Tsietsi' Mashinini, who proposed a meeting on 13 June during the 1976 youth uprising.

Students formed an action committee and Tsietsi Mashinini led students down Mphuthi Street, where they were met by students from the surrounding schools. The students proceeded down Machaba Street and, singing and dancing, moved down Mahalefele Drive to Khumalo Street, Orlando West, which now bears to the Hector Peterson Memorial.

Bus Route

Go past Maponya Mall up to Klipspruit Valley
Turn right into Klipspruit
Turn left into Moroka Nancefield at the four-way junction
Turn right into Mncube Dr
Go straight up & turn left into Mahalafela Str
Turn left into Mageza Str (the entrance into Mofolo Park should be right in front)
